History in the making!

Can you believe this picture! Dale and David were in the blue section of the ticketed area of the swearing ceremony! Dale took most of these great pictures including this historical moment! Thank goodness Dale carried around that huge camera all week. Dale you (ba) rock!

All dressed up and a metro to go

After our wonderful dinner we heading to the metro for a quick ride to the hotel the ball was being held at! Don't we all look shape!

Mall walking

Myself, David Helwig, Scott Harmon, David Holland and Dale Griner having a great time with everyone else out on the mall.

Passing Blair house as we walk thru the neighborhood

As we walked thru the streets Scott gave us all a history lesson on the many architectural icons as we walk towards the mall.

After brunch on Monday

We all were standing around outside talking about what to do next, some of us wanted to go on a walk about the city and some wanted to rest up for the evening ball. Rumor had it that Usher had just left the restaurant as we where gathering to get a seat.

in the hotel... but still in line

So it's took us 2 hours to get thru this line just to get into the ball. Hard to say it was worth the wait, the ball was not much more then a big office holiday party or a very big wedding reception. But then I can still say I was at an Obama inaugural ball! Not to many people can say that, I should count my blessings that we were able to be apart of this historic week!

blowoff party pic

I just wanted to go back a few day (now that I'm at home and am able to look at all the photos from all the different camera and such) Wanted to show you all how amazing Martin and Steven's place was. This was Monday afternoon we just had brunch at a place around the corner. Steven was pointing out the best roads to take as we wanted to go on a little walk about the city.

The "inaugual ball" group having a welcome to DC dinner

Cocktail party before dinner was great fun, Steven & Martin's place is just amazing! After dinner, some of us just had to to out... Cobalt for some more drinks.

Before we knew it, it was 1:30, kevin and I figured we should take the metro back to get some rest... But wait it was sunday and we didn't realize the metro was closed. Had to taxi our way back across the potomac! Always an adventure.

annies steak house

Another great dinner with great friends.
In dupont circle for dinner, cocktail (before/during) who knows what we are doing next!

cocktails and cold weather

Getting ready to venture out using the metro for our first time (this trip) haven't used it to get to and from Matt & Jeremy's place in Alexandria yet, guess this will be our rehersal for Mondays trip.

Need to make it to Scott & Davids friends place tonight for a cocktail party and dinner afterwards. Fun, fun weather for traveling on foot!

Got my Metro iPhone app so I'm hoping that should make things better.

coffee, need to get moving.

Not enough sleep, but who needs sleep anyway? Not sure what we'll be doing today, but have a get to know you / welcome DC cocktail party with the rest of our "Inaugural ball" group tonight, may go the bars afterwards... Do we see a pattern?

From the dance floor

blowoff

What a party, and what a club!
It was great fun to be back in a big city and be able to party until 3:45, yes it's that time in the morning.

Lots of great people, much eye candy, harnesses and all kinds of fun. If we keep this pace up, we won't last much after tuesday, that's for sure. Will post a pic of the evening.

More tomorrow.

got here, no traffic

Drive was easy, was here by 1pm. I'm guessing that the traffic must be waiting for later in the weekend, or let's hope until Tuesday, after our party (group of 8 that's heading to the ball) is already in town.

We had lunch at matchbox inside the district. Then headed over to the hotel the MAL (mid atlantic leather conference) was being hosted at. Not sure if eye candy is the correct word for that scene, but most entertaining, may even go back tomorrow for more.

Ran into some friends (mike, dan's friend here in DC, said he got talked into hanging out by his friend Joe, I said sure that's your story) everyone (well our friends we are staying with, matt and jeremy and K & I) and the friends we meet at this hotel are going out later tonight to the club 9:30, need to take a disco nap now, need to be fresh for our party!

Will post later

Leaving home in the Audi A4, ready for snow!

Kevin said you can't have to much LV

Ok, packed until 1am, I slept until 6:30, kevin was up at 3 am. Guess who is a little excited. Was surprised we were able to get one the road by 8:40. Now let's see how this traffic will be!

All pack and ready to go!
